UCA SPCEs Celebrates 10th Graduation in Khorog

UCA Launches Cultural Heritage Publications on the Pamirs
13 November 2015, Dushanbe, Tajikistan - The University of Central Asia (UCA) launched three new books at an event at the Ismaili Centre, Dushanbe on 12 November 2015. The books, which focus on the history and cultures of the Pamir region of Tajikistan, include Archaeological Map of the Eastern Pamirs by Mira Bubnova and two volumes in The Musical Arts of the Pamirs series by Nizom Nurdjanov, Fayzulla Karomatov and Bahriniso Kabilova. The Musical Arts of the Pamirs is a five-volume study on folk music, oral history, dance and theatre traditions of the Pamir region. Archaeological Map of the Eastern Pamirs is the second in a two-part series on the unique history, artifacts and preservation of archaeological relics of the Pamir mountains. UCA Launches New Books in Cultural Heritage Series
18 September 2015, Bishkek - The University of Central Asia (UCA) introduced three new books in its Cultural Heritage Book Series at a book launch in Bishkek: Respect Graces the Living, Lamentation Graces the Dead: Kyrgyz Funeral Laments and Lamenters by Dr Elmira Köchümkulova, which documents the content and practice of Kyrgyz funeral laments; Kyrgyz Herders of Soviet Uzbekistan: Historical and Ethnographic Narratives by Köchümkulova and Mamatkerim Köchümkulov; and Cities of the Dead: The Ancestral Cemeteries of Kyrgyzstan, with photos by Margaret Morton and text by Professor Nasser Rabbat, Köchümkulova and Altyn Kapalova, the first photographic documentation of unique Muslim cemeteries in Central Asia.

UCA Football Tournament Becomes Naryn Tradition
31 August 2015, Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic - The University of Central Asia (UCA) hosted its annual Independence Day football tournament on 30 and 31 August 2015. The qualifying matches were played at the University’s international standard sports facilities at its Naryn campus over two days, with the final hosted on Kyrgyz Independence Day. This is the fourth time UCA has hosted this tournament. Eight participating teams represented Naryn neighbourhoods, and included Tosh-Bulak, Almabak, Shaarcha, Jailoobak, Razzakov, RTS and Ardagerler, as well as a UCA staff team. UCA has organised the tournament since 2012, presenting champion’s trophies to Tosh-Bulak (2012), RTS (2013), UCA (2014) and Almabak (2015).

Badakhshan University-University of Central Asia Partnership Honours First Graduates
16 August 2015, Faizabad, Afghanistan - On 16 August 2015, the University of Central Asia’s (UCA) partner, Badakhshan University celebrated the first 147 graduates of its new jointly-developed Continuing Education Unit at a ceremony in Kokcha Palace, Faizabad. The ceremony was attended by the Acting Governor of Badakhshan Province Dr Shah Valiullah Adeeb, Mrs Nurjehan Mawani, Diplomatic Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network in Afghanistan, Badakhshan University’s Director Mr Khusraw Nazari, Deputy Head of Provincial Council, Mr Talabuddin Qadiri.
