Call for Papers: 5th International Congress of the Association of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Kyrgyzstan
The University of Central Asia’s Cultural Heritage and Humanities Unit is pleased to announce a call for papers for the 5th International Congress of the Association of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Kyrgyzstan. The event will cover the “Role of Culture in the Socio-Economic Development of Central Asia”, and will be held at UCA’s campus in Naryn (Kyrgyzstan). The deadline to submit papers is April 20th 2020. The best research papers will be published as part of CHHU’s peer-reviewed Research Paper Series.
UCA Admissions Test To Be Postponed
In light of the health risks of the current situation, UCA’s admission test, which had been scheduled for 5th April 2020, is being postponed. A new date and further details will be communicated to all applicants via e-mail, and will also be posted on the UCA website.

Seminar and Lecture for Journalists: How to Spot Fake News, and Trends and Developments in Multimedia Journalism
As part of the global Google News Initiative, Denby Weller will conduct an exciting seminar to explore online tools of news production and verification. She will cover spotting fake videos, geolocation tools to verify the time and place of social media posts, and verification tools to verify social media photos and videos in breaking news situations, which have been developed by world leaders including Bellingcat, and First Draft News.
Call for Participation: Live-Streamed Courses in Economics
The University of Central Asia's (UCA) Institute of Public Policy and Administration, in cooperation with the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education's Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) Foundation, invites all bachelor and master level students, faculty members, applied researchers, and other interested individuals to participate in a live-streamed economics course starting in February and March 2020.

The University of Central Asia (UCA) is pleased to announce an upcoming film screening and talk in Bishkek, presenting two environmental documentaries - On Thin Ice and a segment of the Giving Nature a Voice series. The films were directed by Andrew Tkach, 8 Emmy Awards Winner, who will deliver a lecture, and lead a Q&A session following the screening.
