The Ambassador of the United States to Tajikistan, John Mark Pommersheim (standing right), visited the University of Central Asia's (UCA) Khorog campus on July 27. Ambassador Pommersheim toured the university campus, and was introduced to the UCA’s mission, and academic programmes by Dr. Diana Pauna, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. During his visit he also had an opportunity to address and interact with participants of the academic research seminar on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development and teachers from a Professional Development Workshop for English Teachers facilitated by UCA’s Education Improvement Programme (pictured).

The US Ambassador was pleased to see the opportunities offered to young adults from the mountain regions and UCA’s outreach activities. He stressed the importance of studying the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Tajik nation, and presented UCA with a Tajik language book by Frederick Starr.
