This lecture is devoted to an analysis and discussion of contemporary research into the role of natural ecosystems in the establishment of favourable living conditions for every organism, including humans, both locally and globally. In addition, the audience will learn about measures to protect natural ecosystems, such as the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, the creation of protected areas, including micro-reserves, and the promotion of other conservation initiatives as alternatives to the destructive use of natural resources, which have been developed and popularised in the works of scientists such as Professor Emil Shukurov, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, and Professor Victor Gorshkov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
CHHU Public Lecture: Contested Methodologies and Competing Ethical Frameworks: How to Study Changing "Kyrgyz Reality"?
This lecture will discuss the limitations of these two approaches, critique how this methodology is institutionalized in academia and argues that “local” societies need to develop a methodology for understanding their own changing reality within their own terms.
